Up Your Smoothie Game

Ah hello April!

Spring is definitely here. Thank goodness! I am loving the lighter mornings, the slightly warmer days and all the pretty flowers bursting into life. Around this time of year I start moving away from warming bowls of winter fuel like porridge and stews, and towards big fresh bowls of salad and energising smoothies!  Continue reading “Up Your Smoothie Game”

Sunday Diary

So I am introducing a new segment to the blog which shows you some of my favourite ways to spend a Sunday!

I think that in our hectic lives, it is hard to know how to unwind. I used to find it really hard to ‘switch off’ from work and get my much needed down time. So now I make a conscious effort to do stuff on Sundays that make me feel awesome! Sundays can sometimes feel a bit anti-climatic and depressing – but I have found recently that if I do stuff that re-energises me, then I start my week feeling really positive! This can range from anything like an outdoor adventure, an exercise class, pottering around the kitchen or just winding down with my favourite movie!

Soon I think we will need a bigger house… I am a self-taught cook, and I love how each of the books I own, has taught me different things.

Macaroon Masterclass!

So a couple of months ago I treated a good friend of mine to a Macaroon Making class for her birthday. She loves cooking and has been dying to learn how to make these beautiful french biscuits. I have attempted macaroons at home before, but have never been able to get them quite right. Mine turned out too grainy and for the life of me I couldn’t work out how to make them smooth and pretty as I have seen in bakeries!

Springtime Snack Inspiration

I love Spring. Honestly, I think it may be my favourite season! I love that the weather gets warmer and the dreary winter skies turn a brilliant blue. I also love the abundance of fresh fruit and berries that come with this time of year. I don’t know why, but I tend to crave cheese and stodgy food in winter. But in the spring I crave strawberries, grapes, blueberries, apples, melon and yoghurt. I thought I would post some snack inspiration today. I have recently discovered apple and almond butter – I am obsessed with this snack and can’t believe I never had it before!
